The DIY Colour Book

Today, I did my own Colour Book . I named it “Follow my colours”:)

Here is how it looks like

This is a match the same colour. Made it like a book. When she matches the right colour , she is supposed to stick the other half of the colour paper with a blue tack. Even if she is wrong or to aid multiple activity, it can be easily taken out again and paste back. As she identifies, she is also supposed to say the name of the colour.  Talitha seemed to like it . I think I am on the right track then ….

Evolved Mind

Ok I am back.

Reason : Too many information . Need an avenue to display . haha

Talitha has grown up so much. There are so many things she is up to now. So many things we are beginning or rather have already started to do Together. I am no longer dealing with a new born .. she has got a mind of her own, a certain way she wants to do her stuff.  I am learning to accept this fact. Though,  it is a great pleasure to see it, as a new parent the pace is pretty fast. Sometimes, I get lost. Thought i should “pen” down the journey.

Just to keep a remembrance . It would def be a memory lane to embrace in my golden years.

Talitha has been attending playgroup since she turned 18months(July 2010) in a neighbourhood enrichment centre . The initial stage was a lil tough but soon she surpassed the anxiety and settled in the 2 hour playgroup. Around October, I received a call from the childcare centre in my workplace that there is a vacancy for Talitha. Delighted ! I took up the offer. The 1 month was terrible. I had to put up with so many issues. I shall elaborate in another post if i have time. I felt she was not a happy child at all in that 1 month she was there.  Childhood is all about happiness is it not? In this case, that 1 month, I think I caused her unhappiness. I feel guilty till today. While people said, at least you tried .. it made me feel only slightly better. Yes . I tried.  Now I am miles richer knowing my daughter.  I am glad I made a swift decision . Nothing beats peace . People also convinced me she will get better as days passed by. The usual routined lifestyle of a childcare product, knowing my daughter, realising the extreme alertness she has . Trust me …. the teachers had a bloody hard time coping with her. While the rest of the kids adjusted to the routines, Talitha refused to be contained. She knew what we were exactly doing to her. In short, my daughter is not a childcare material.

So I explored .

To be frank, I am a great fan of Homeschooling. It is not an option as I am working full time with shifts. Social Interaction is equally important so she needs to mingle around for that . But I strongly believe there are tons of things that can be done at home to enhance a child’s growing mind. Mum helps me a great deal actually. Other than that, I look around everywhere for ideas.  Here, I wish to compile the fun activities I do with Talitha . Every Step i put here, I am learning as well together with my tot…… an Evolved Mind

TALITHA

I have had numerous questions about Talitha’s name originality.  So I think, it is justified to have related post in here now .

The Truth is …. John and I never thought about any name in particular  even though we knew we were expecting a girl back then. When she finally arrived …. We took almost 5 days to decide on a name and we never knew choosing a name can be ermmm ….. quite tedious. Of course, thats what everyone is going to address her ! Out of so many thousands of beautiful names …. selecting  just 1 ? I leave you to ponder . The parents will get what i mean. Yeah we just wanted ONE name.  Something unique, sharp, sweet , defining ,catchy, meaningful and easy… of course easy … considering the many races we have here in Singapore , We wanted to do her a favour by choosing a name less likely to be mispronounced. Of course the above criteria in selecting a name is what almost all parents will think of . We were not any different.

So the search went on ….. Co incidently, we always arrowed down a name starting with ” T ” and for myself in particular ..I always  liked names of  Hebrew, Greek and Sanskrit  origin . Not  against of our Tamil names.  We have got fantastic names and wonderful meaning ones too .  Its all a matter of preference and tastes.

Finally, We saw ” TALITHA”. It got into our grey matter almost instantly. Here what she means,

TALITHA

Is a name of  Hebrew/Aramaic Origin

It simply means : Maiden , Child

It comes along in a  phrase spoken by Jesus the Christ of Nazareth which is  Talitha Cumi so Yes … it exists in the Bible too . In specific in the New Testament.

Mark 5:41

And taking the hand of the child, he said to her, “Talitha kum”, which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, get up”. (ref erence Wikipedia)
After selecting the name … We also came to know it is,
The traditional star name of two stars in the URSA MAJOR Constellation.
So yeap … That is the exact meaning of  my Bunny girl .  I hope i have had enlightened the many who would always asked me in surprise  when they hear her name :)
